I wanted to let you know of two things:
- The projects for the 2019 Tribomechadynamics Research Camp (formerly known as a few different things, but the summer research institute that Christoph, Malte, and I have been organizing for a few years now) are now online, and the application period is open for students to apply to join us this summer in Houston. http://tmd.rice.edu
Applications are due by March 4th in order for us to have enough time to make sure that all visas are worked out for international students. This year, we’ve shortened the research camp to be about 1 month long, and we’ve decided to focus on projects that compare different methods for providing novel insights into the dynamics of nonlinear structures.
- The abstract submission portal is now open for Tribomechadynamics 2019, our conference on tribology, contact mechanics, and structural dynamics. I hope that you are able to join us for this conference, to be held from July 31-August 2 in Houston. http://tmd.rice.edu
Abstracts are due by April 1st. We will request that accepted papers have extended abstracts submitted by June 5th for the conference proceedings. For student paper competition entries, full papers will be requested in order to evaluate the entries for the competition. Both the winning student paper entries and the top presentations (which will be asked to submit a full length paper) will be published as journal papers.
